SOCA Not Agree on the Protection of Migrant Workers

Joining hands: The delegates held hands during the opening session
of
the Committee of Senior Officials for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural
Community or Senior Officials Committee for the ASCC (SOCA)
in Gumaya Tower Hotel Semarang, Saturday (8 / 10).
The issue of protection of migrant workers (migrant workers) that appears in the sessions of the Committee of Senior Officials for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community or Senior Officials Committee for the ASCC (SOCA), Saturday (8 / 10), there is still no common ground.
Because, between the sending countries (Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar) with the recipient countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam) there is still debate, especially about the workers who are not equipped with the document.
While involving a few other issues, such as HIV / AIDS, protection for the disabled, the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), education, natural disaster management, cooperation between ASEAN and China, and global warming (global warming) can instantly reach mutual agreement.
At least until 2015, in the framework of the ASEAN Community, the bug has been no follow-up.
Yesterday, the trial opened by SOCA Expert Staff Cultural Diversity and Tourism Ministry of Welfare Coordinator, Day Untoro Drajat. Indriyono SOCA Chairman Prof. Dr. Susilo leads the proceedings.
Chairman of the Indonesian delegation for the ASCC / SOCA Sardjunani Nina, explains, the problem of migrant workers is crucial. Indonesian agreement to encourage the need for protection against them. As per the results of the 12th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Philippines, in 2007, has endorsed the ASEAN declaration for the protection and promotion of the rights of migrant workers the region.
"There must be an agreement for the blueprint of ASEAN socio-cultural community. But recipient countries, especially Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, have not agreed particularly concerned that workers are not equipped with the document, "he said.
SOCA trial results will be reported to the ASCC meeting, Monday (10/10) tomorrow, to be followed in the ASEAN Summit in Bali in November.
Hope Indonesia and other sending countries of migrant workers, at least prior to the achievement of the ASEAN Community by 2015, the issue must be resolved.
"According to the results of the meeting in Manila in September 2011, the discussion of migrant workers completed in three phases before 2015. The first stage for the migrant workers permanent (regular) were completed until the deadline of 2012, phase two for non-regular workers deadline of 2013. Last until 2014 the existing limit of the legal status of ASEAN's about it, "said Nina.
