British Embassy Was Invaded

Iranian demonstrators angry and stormed two British embassy compound in TehranTuesday.

They smashed windows, threw Molotov cocktails, and burned the Union Jack flag inprotest against the sanctions imposed by Britain. Mehr news agency reported thatprotesters had seized six British diplomatic staff of an embassy complex in northernTehran. However, they were eventually released.


Loud blasts
The Foreign Office condemned the action. "A number of protesters in contempt at our embassy complex, including vandalism against our goods. We were very offended, "readsa statement issued by the ministry.

"Under international law, the Iranian government has a duty to protect its diplomats.London hopes the Iranian government can control the situation and ensure security for theBritish Embassy staff. "

The demonstrators waving banners that symbolize the struggle of martyrdom and takeportraits of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The incident took place following the imposition of new sanctions against Iran last weekBritain because the country was not willing to halt its nuclear program. London prohibits allfinancial institutions doing business with Iranian financial institutions, including the CentralBank of Iran, as part of a wave of new sanctions imposed Western countries.
